SPUの針圧について
調べてみると1970年 発売 の物で 2～3g 1979年頃では3～4.5g と記載されている。
という事は SPU は 開発当初には１～２ｇであり カートリッジの歴史を逆行して徐々に軽針圧から重針圧に移行していった事になる。オルトフォン社が何故この様な変更をしたのだろうか。
どなたかご存知の方は是非教えていただきたい。
ところで、これらの変更は実際の処、振動系の設定がまったく異なる事を示しており、
年代と共にSPUの音質が異なっていた事は多くの好事家のレビューを裏付けるていて、初期のモノ程音が良いとされているこの事を裏付ける事実だと思うが、不思議な事に初期モデルを良いと評価した人は針圧を何グラムに設定したのだろうか。今まで見聞した範囲では、針圧に言及したものは無かったように思う。
上記に示す針圧の変遷は、振動系を支えるテンションワイアーとダンパーが異なる事と推察されるがこのダンパーに関して次のようなコメントが有ったので掲載（抜粋）しておきたい。

SPUの構造 ダンパーについて

Ortofon is said to have invented the modern style wire suspension MC stereo cartridge design still used and copied by the very most cartridge builders even today. This was 1958. EMT made exceptional turntables like 927 and 930 for manufacturers of records, record plants and pro studios, radio and TV. They usually came equipped with Ortofon arms and SPU cartridges. Naturally, EMT wanted their own arm and cartridge to sell the tt's as a set, so they came up with the TSD-15, which was a copy of the SPU design. It was a quite flimpsy design compared to the SPU. They did wonderfull monophonic cartridges and a mediocre stereo. It was OK when not used for long, which never happened, as in all pro companies, there was a service station to do service on the tt's every half a year and change cartridge for a new one. This was standard procedure. So the TSD15 was OK in that sense. It was matched to the EMT Eq units within the tt's for specs which it held quite well over the requested time of useage. NOT for very longer. All EMT'sTSD15's I have ever had, seen, repaired, trashed and thrown away used the worst, badest and short lived suspension damping rubber ever immagineable. HORRIBLE. It ages fast, breaks in parts, deteriorates in a jiffy and will not hold longer than 3 to 5 years maximum (and this is VERY kind to be honest). Horrible. It is SO bad, that I had to change head connectors on EMT arms agains Ortofon SPU types to attach SPU-A-types for the Swiss Radio, TV, and even at EMT/Thorens in Wettingen, Switzerland, to give a longer living alternative. PhonoEQ's were changed for Swiss made Eymann EQ's for better quality, no matter what anyone on the planet dreams of EMT solidstate EQ's. SPU's, especially the Series One with the beautifull double reddish dampers hold extremely long - if you ever find one - go for it! I had the pleasure to redo a Series 1 SPU for J.Robberts of Soundpractices mag a few years ago, and the SPU was down and dirty found somewhere, but set up, cleaned, adjusted it played like a teen from 1958. This would never have happened with TSD15's. If you like their sound, buy then NEW from the factory with manufacturing date, so you know how old they are. Repeat: buy them NEW. Or you will be dissapointed. This is naturally true for all it's deviations like Einstein, Brinkmann, Breuer, Thorens, Roksan etc. You can buy second hand if you have the possibility to trade in against a NEW one and safe you some bucks.

同様に、東欧のShluts 製スピーカーのエッジは赤色（発泡しているのでピンクに）見えるウレタンであるが、劣化しない事が知られている。 赤く見える物質が加水分解を防止する薬剤の色で、バイエル（正確には東ドイツ 旧IG・ファルベン）が開発したモノと聞いているが現在確認中である。そうだとすれば、劣化しないウレタンも随分昔に製造できていた事になる。参考までに、初期物のダンパーは透明度の高い赤色である。
